How to Transcribe a Video Using Claude or ChatGPT

Transcribing a video through the TokScript connector is as simple as pasting a URL into your AI chat.

Supported platforms: TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

How to do it

Copy the URL of the video you want to transcribe. Open Claude or ChatGPT (with TokScript connected). Paste the URL and ask for a transcript.

You can phrase your request however feels natural. All of these work: "Transcribe this video: [URL]" or "What does this person say? [URL]" or "Get the transcript for [URL]" or simply paste the URL and say "transcript."

What you get back

The connector returns a rich set of data for every video. The video title and author/creator name. The video duration and total view count. Full engagement stats: likes, comments, shares, and bookmarks. The publish date of the video. Hashtags parsed from the caption. The audio track name and audio URL. A thumbnail/cover image URL. The complete transcript, either as structured JSON segments with start and end timestamps, or as plain text.

Choosing your format

By default, transcripts come back in JSON format with timestamps for each segment. This is useful when you want to reference specific moments in the video. If you prefer just the raw text, ask for it: "Give me the plain text transcript for [URL]."

Language options

You can request the transcript in a specific language. For example: "Transcribe this video in Spanish: [URL]." The connector supports language codes like "en" for English, "es" for Spanish, "fr" for French, and so on.

Tips for best results

Make sure the video has spoken audio. Videos that are purely music, sound effects, or silent will not produce a transcript. If a creator has disabled auto-transcription on their video, the transcript may not be available. Check that your URL is a direct link to a single video, not a profile page or search results page.
