Video Won't Transcribe / "No Transcript Available"

Troubleshoot empty transcripts, missing audio, private videos, and platform-specific transcription issues through the MCP connector.

If the connector returns an error saying no transcript is available, or returns empty/incomplete results, here's what to check.

The video must have spoken audio

TokScript generates transcripts from speech in the video. If the video is purely music, a silent montage, a sound effect compilation, or any content without someone speaking, there is no speech to transcribe and the tool will return an error or empty result. This is not a bug - there's simply no spoken content to extract.

The creator may have disabled transcription

On some platforms, creators can disable the auto-generated captions or transcription for their videos. When this happens, the source platform doesn't provide caption data, and TokScript cannot generate a transcript from it. This is rare but does happen occasionally.

The video may be private, deleted, or restricted

If the video has been taken down, made private, or is restricted in your region, TokScript can't access it. Double-check that the URL still leads to a publicly accessible video. Try opening the URL in a browser to verify the video is live.

Platform-specific issues

TokScript has fallback transcription methods (including Groq-powered processing) for Instagram and YouTube to handle cases where the primary method doesn't return results. These fallbacks are active and working. If one method fails, the system automatically tries the backup before returning an error.

Try the URL on the website

As a diagnostic step, paste the same URL directly into tokscript.com. If the video transcribes on the website but not through the connector, there may be a temporary connector-specific issue - contact support. If it also fails on the website, the issue is with the video itself (no speech, disabled captions, or the video is no longer available).

Check the URL format

Make sure you're pasting a direct link to a single video. Profile URLs, search result pages, hashtag pages, and other non-video URLs won't work. The URL should contain a video ID or direct path to a specific video.
